Monica Salters is the new tennis coach here at South Pointe. Some students may recognize her from the freshman hall or from having her as a science teacher. Previously, Salters played at Coker College and coached at Eau Claire High School in Columbia, SC.

Salters has a passion, not just for playing tennis, but for coaching tennis too. The players are the best part of coaching for her because of their love for tennis and how compassionate they are towards each other.

“I have coached before and the girls are really great. They have such a good attitude and they mesh really well. I like the family and team spirit they have,” Salters states.

Even though Salters is tired after a long day of school, she loves coming to practice to see her girls. As a whole, the coaching experience has made Salters love South Pointe and coaching even more.

Salters states, “It has been an excellent experience, it has made my year here at South Pointe much better. It has defiantly enriched my experience at South Pointe.”

The team has embraced Salters with open arms and loves how she motivates her team to be the best players the can be.

Junior Anna Caroline Carter believes that “Coach Salters really wants us to be conditioned in good shape so we can compete as a team. Also, she allows us to socialize with one another and have a healthy balance of socialization and organization at practice.”

Being in game shape and having organization at practice will help Salters and the team to accomplish milestones that the Stallions have never experienced, such as making it pass region and competing for a much desired state championship. Salters is ready to make the tennis program at South Pointe a more established program in not just the region, but the state.
