South Pointe has welcomed a new member to the athletic staff. New volleyball coach, Hunter Mosley, is excited to bring a different culture to not only the volleyball team, but also to the support system of the Lady Stallions. Mosley has a vision to change the attitudes and mindset of his players and lead them to bigger and better things than they have done in the past.

Before becoming a coach here at South Pointe, Mosley coached private lessons, middle school teams, high school teams, church teams, region teams and national teams. Mosley has even coached 11 girls that now play volleyball in college, coached a team that placed 7th out of 296 at a national qualifier competition, and coached a team last year that went undefeated.

Mosley believes that his success, in coaching, stems from simple fundamentals, such as showing love for teammates, not being afraid to fail, embracing the failures they face, and practicing and playing as a “champion.” After putting these changes into action, he is already seeing how much better the team gets along, pushes each other, and picks each other up.

With Mosley’s instruction, they have embraced living like a champion and hold faith that by acting like a champion, they will become champions. His expectations are clear and have left a positive impression on his girls.

Junior, Karina Petrovich, feels as if Mosley has brought a huge encouragement to the team.

“It’s really improved and has gotten a lot more positive this year,” Karina said when asked about how the team has changed since Mosley joined their coaching staff. “He’s [Mosley] just really compassionate about volleyball. He takes time to explain everything so everyone understands. He coaches inside and outside of practice. We can tell he really wants us to win.”

South Pointe is excited to have a new coach with experience that will help the volleyball team, and individual players, succeed.
