Today, the Men’s and Women’s Varsity Basketball team have a big away test as they play Rock Hill High. Last week, both teams pulled out a win over Fort Mill on their home court.

From last week’s game, the Women’s team learned a couple of things about themselves. Head Varsity Women’s Basketball Coach Stephanie Butler states that the team has definitely gotten better on the defensive end, which was been one of their key emphasis since the spring. Not only was the team able to win last week physically, they won emotionally.

Butler states, “When Fort Mill made a little bit of the run, the team didn’t get flustered and they didn’t back down. To be able to see us turn that corner was positive. ”

The team took what they learned last week to improve during practice. Junior Scarlett Gilmore says that they prepared by making sure they play as a team and by covering the perimeter well. One key emphasis that the Stallions are relying on are attacking and finishing.

Just like the Women’s team, the Men’s Varsity Basketball team will have to fight for a road victory.

The Stallion Men’s Varsity team is focused on staying true to their game plan and not trying to do too much.

“We’re just going to play our game. The coaches made up a game plan for us so we’re just gonna play the way we usually play and not try to let the hype get to us,” Senior JC McCorn states.

The key to win this game against Rock Hill High is getting help from all of the team. Also exerting more pressure will play a huge role. Senior Marice Crawford states that the team is going to be more aggressive and get more of the team involved to pull out a win over Rock Hill.

Tonight, both teams will need to assertive and have a spark off the bench in order to remain undefeated early in the season.
