This season the Softball team is off to a hot start, with an 8-1 overall record. The only loss the Stallions have on the season is against Lancaster. The dominance the Stallions have played with throughout the season is due to hard work and long practices.

Junior Kayt Houston states, “We do a lot of daily things and practice late and put a lot of hard work into our practices.”

Winning majority of their games has helped the team’s confidence level greatly and reminds them that they can compete with anyone in the region. Not only has the season so helped their confidence, but it has also brought the intensity and energy level at practice and games to keep the winning record alive.

“Winning all of these games has given us confidence that will carry over into the playoffs. It also has given us more energy that we can carry throughout our games,” expresses Senior Megan Mathis.

The softball team this year only has three seniors, while the rest of the roster is filled with underclassmen. The underclassmen do not lack any confidence, and help drive the team into the team that it has become.

“Our young team is getting us prepared so that when we play together, we know each other and know how each other plays,” Houston states.

The underclassmen getting experience on have a successful season will only help build the team this year, but for next year. The Stallions hope to win region and make it far in the playoffs due to their dedication to the game. Their season so far has gone unnoticed in South Pointe history as one of the best softball seasons.
