In the second round of playoffs, South Pointe was defeated by Daniel High School due to a two-point conversion in double overtime, making it the first year in four years that South Pointe has not made it to the State Championship. At the end of their last playoff game of the season, Head Coach, Strait Herron announced his retirement from coaching at South Pointe. After coaching for 13 years at South Pointe, eight years being Head Coach, Herron will be retired beginning Jan. 1 of the New Year.
