Signing Day: December 2018
December 20, 2018
Three South Pointe athletes were joined in the media center by friends, family, and coaches on Dec. 19 at 10:30 a.m. for signing day. These students included two Stallion football players and a cross country runner.
Heather Alverson started us off, who has been running cross country since she was in the seventh grade. She signed her letter of intent to Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C.
South Pointe RB Joe Ervin who we have watched since his first offer signed to spend the next four years at Kansas State University.
“I feel good about it [signing] it’s always been my childhood dream to play in front of 80,000 people,” says Ervin. “I feel as though this decision will help me achieve my goals in the future.”
The last to sign was DB Jaylen Mahoney, who committed to Wake Forest in the spring. He later decided to decommit from Wake Forest as he thought he was “rushed” and “did not think stuff through.” On Sept. 3, he decided to commit to Vanderbilt and signed his letter of intent there yesterday morning.
