Stallions Conquer the Trojans in a Return to D3

After a slow start offensively, the South Pointe Stallions were able to defeat the Northwestern Trojans 17-14 in Saturday night’s season opener. The outlook was grim for our Stallions. The score was 14-3 midway through the second quarter, and our offense was struggling. But then, just before halftime, Quay Chambers was able to break through the Northwestern defense for a touchdown. It was 14-10 at the half. Northwestern never scored another point. The Stallion defense held them scoreless during the second half. During the third quarter, Quay Chambers once again muscled his way through the Trojan defense for another rushing touchdown, his second of the game. From this point on it was a game of field position, with neither team scoring for the rest of the game. The Stallions will return home to play the Rock Hill Bearcats this upcoming Friday, Aug. 30.
