Senior Showcases Athletic Talent on a City and State-Wide Scale
November 11, 2019
Senior Halle Wilson first joined South Pointe High School’s Varsity Volleyball team during her freshman year of high school and has done nothing but thrived in both her athletic and academic careers.
Wilson’s ability to manage an AP/IB schedule and a full-time position as a captain of the volleyball team for the 2019-2020 school year completely exemplifies the determination she presents as a Stallion.
On Oct. 18, 2019, Wilson was named a CN2 “Athlete of the Week”, an award given to student athletes in the York County area, for her hard work on and off the court, just in time for her Senior Night against Lancaster High.
“I was really surprised, but excited when I found out,” Wilson said, “it made my Senior Night even better than what I imagined it would be.”
When selected to play for the Varsity team during her freshman year, Wilson never dreamt of accomplishing so much.
For four consecutive years, Wilson led the Lady Stallions to many victories as the team’s libero.
“I’ve had a lot of fun playing with these girls for the past four years…playing on the Varsity team really led to a lot of leadership skills developing and I’m proud to have been on this team. I’ve had so much fun doing it and I’m going to miss it a lot,” Wilson explained.
Although Halle Wilson’s time as a volleyball player for South Pointe is over, the athlete still has time to showcase her skills at the 2019 North/South All-Star Volleyball match at Erskine College on Nov. 23, 2019.
“Just to be able to play with the top 24 people from the state is going to be a great experience for me and I’m really looking forward to it,” Wilson exclaimed.
Wilson was selected out of hundreds of volleyball players in South Carolina and plans to end her career in high school volleyball with a bang.
