Just recently information has been released from Texas Roadhouse that they will be adding a fifth Charlotte area location in Rock Hill on Dave Lyle Boulevard in front of the Galleria mall.
According to the Texas Roadhouse website, if weather cooperates, the projected date for the opening of the restaurant will be Dec. 18. The location will open at the previous site of a Ryan’s Steakhouse that closed last year.
News of numerous closings of Ryan’s Steakhouse restaurants began to sweep the nation last year when the company filed bankruptcy. According to Ovation brands, the father company of Ryan’s, the company filed chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2012 that resulted in the closing of nearly 100 restaurants.
Unlike Ryan’s, Texas Roadhouse has an abundance of restaurants opening across the World. According to the company, the restaurant-chain just recently opened a restaurant in Dubai. The Rock Hill location will be around 7,000 square feet and employ around 140 people.
One of the many Stallions excited about the opening is Junior Kenady Harrington. Growing up near Daytona Beach, Florida, Harrington visited her great grandmother frequently and the restaurant was always a first choice. “I’m really excited there is going to be a Texas Roadhouse in Rock Hill.” Harrington said. “The earliest I can remember going was when I was 9, I thought it was really cool that you could throw peanut shells on the floor.”
The roadhouse is just one of the many stores and restaurants planned for the Dave Lyle Boulevard corridor. Just recently, the Warren Norman Company has attracted national retailers, such as Academy Sports and Sam’s Club. According to the company, the plan is to make Rock Hill a retail destination for people here and tourists that travel to town for soccer and softball tournaments.
Texas Roadhouse is an American chain-restaurant similar to competitor LongHorn Steakhouse, that already has a location in Rock Hill. The restaurant has a country-southwestern atmosphere and specializes in rolls and peanuts that you can shell and drop on the floor.

The first restaurant opened in 1993 by Kent Taylor as a local family-friendly restaurant in Clarksville, Indiana. The brand spread as the concept of a affordable family-friendly restaurant that offers excellent meals.
Kent’s goal was to own not just a family restaurant and not just a steak restaurant, but a place where everyone of all ages could come and have a great meal and great fun for a great price. Today his brand carries own and grows across the world with over 500 locations strong.
If you are interested in employment, the company will have hirings on the weeks prior to its opening in December. For more information, please call the Rock Hill location at (803)-909-7427 or by visiting the company employment site at www.texasroadhouse.com/careers
